Vacation with Friends and Photography.

Spent the better part of last week touring around Arizona with my friends Dan and Evelyn. Lots of fun, lots of photos, lots of miles on the truck. Will post a few pics when I get them edited.

This is such beautiful country.

A Final Word On The SCORPION.

So many people have checked in with me to see how my scorpion "bite" is doing that I'm afraid that it's inspired a piece of very bad poetry. For your reading displeasure:

Hmm...does a scorpion bite?

If a scorpion could take a bite with his maw
Would his jaw hurt as much as a clip from his claw?
Would his bite on my leg make my head ring
As much as the toxin from his all mighty sting?

If a scorpion could take a bite with his maw
Would I have spent the whole night on the couch, enthralled
Exquisite pain in my toes, kissed on my lips
Toxins spread to my fingertips.

For the scorpion’s bite is all in his tail
Dagger of fire made my tongue wail.
A heavy syringe of power and lust
One more tiny warrior crushed dead in the dust.

Strangely enough, I was very sick for a few hours in the afternoon. Weak, headachey and dizzy, dry heaving. Reaction to the excitement? A one two punch from my little combatant? Who knows. Was really hinky about getting into bed last night, made J. check all the bedding with the black light before I would agree to sleep in it. Since he was on a roll he checked the whole property inside and out and found only 3 on the entire 1/3 acre and crushed one. Today I am 100% better and ready to get back at it.

The Dreaded Scorpion Sting - Part Deux.

Okay, it's been 10 hours and other than a little tingling I feel pretty good. The sting itself really wasn't too much worse than a yellow jacket bite. It was in bed. And it was enough of a jab to make me jump out of bed. The back of my thigh started burning immediately, about the same as when you grab a hot pot and do actually burn yourself. At the very worst, I was aware of my lips (like when you've just been kissed by a hot guy), the very tip of my tongue was a bit numb (like going to the dentist) and I was shaking a bit (like when you get a good scare). There has been some nasty jabbing pains near the wound and a lot of the same burning in about a six inch square area.

J. and I stayed up most of the night just in case and the Banner Poison Control Center was kind enough to call after the first hour to check symptoms and assure me that everything was normal and then at the 3 hour mark. They would have checked again at the 5 hour mark but I told them I didn't think it was necessary.

I won't be afraid of the little buggers any more, because it just wasn't that bad.

SCORPION! I am Finally A true Arizonan. Well, It finally happened! 1:36 this morning I woke up to one &*#$$#@@ of a sting in the back of my thigh and yes it was a bark scorpion (the poisonous kind). Imagine the audacity! In my bed??? Jeff found and killed him, poison control is calling every couple hours to check on me and my left leg is burning like a frying pan is being held to it.

Rock and Roll!!!

Spent an incredible evening at The Rhythm Room last night. The Rhythm Room is an institution here in Phoenix, bringing world class blues, folk, jazz and rock to this corner of the southwest. Our friends Kira and Eric invited us to see a personal favorite, Steve Poltz. Steve is an extraordinary artist, a folk singer/songwriter who writes of plain things...everyday life and how he experiences it. Steve is irreverent, controversial, hilarious, high energy vocals with fingers that flame across the frets of his Taylor guitars.

I am totally a new and dedicated fan and can't wait til he makes his way back to Phoenix. In the meantime, I guess I'll just have to be satisfied with his website, http://www.poltz.com and cds.

Every once in a while I gotta just go wild! Went BOWLING with a few of my new photographer friends...I have hooked up with the greatest bunch of people since moving to AZ. I met all of them through my lab partner, Pictage and I just have a blast with all of them.

If my friends from Cali could see me now...bowling??? They'd say? You???? Yup, me. I'm doing all sorts of things I haven't done before...and loving life in beautiful Arizona.

I met Bernice and Ari in Las Vegas for a special walk up The Strip. I love doing street photography, because you never know what you are going to get! Here are some of my favorite photos from our time together.

It's so cool to go to fun places with my clients. I get to do something different, they get to go to their favorite places and make new memories while creating wonderful photographs. What could be better thn that?
